Math in 4th grade is really fun and challenging! I liked how many partner projects we did in Mrs. Hunt's class. Last year it was mostly independent projects, and that wasn't as fun. I also feel like math this year in 4th grade is more of taking notes than just listening. In my opinion that is a good thing because you can look back in your notebook instead of remembering all the topics. Math in 4th grade is very intriguing and enjoyable!
Reading in 4th grade was a blast! The first thing we did was get Jr. Great Books and read many stories from different countries which told us valuable lessons (my favorite story would probably be The Gold Coin). My favorite activity I did in reading was to read The Phantom Tollbooth. This was my favorite activity in reading because first of all, this is now one of the best books I have ever read, and second we made Google Documents called "Milo's Gifts, Vocabulary, Class Notes, and Literary Elements!"
Science in 4th grade was spectacular! Our class did many exiting activities! My favorite thing I learned about in science is about is Parasites and Hosts. This was so interesting to me because I thought Host's could get some Parasites off them but it turns out they can't. Also Parasites live on it's Host until the Host dies, and when the Host dies the Parasite dies. Science was exquisite!
Social Studies in 4th grade was amazing! I learned so much about our states. Did you know that Kansas grows the most wheat in America? I also learned that the Hershey factory is in Pennsylvania! WOW! The Hershey factory is the largest chocolate factory in the world. The hardest part of Social Studies was remembering all of the capitals of the states. Other than that Social Studies was amazing!
I have a lot of feelings about 4th grade (most of them are good ones)! One of the best things in 4th grade was playing with all my friends in various classrooms. One thing that I could work on is reading more for my reading log. So far, 4th grade has been one of the best grades for me (except all the homework)!
Learning Latin was intriguing! Latin was so much fun because I never knew the meanings of all the stems or words. When I learn the stems and words each day I feel accomplished with myself that now I know something in another language. It feel great when the test comes that I know I'm up to the challenge!
Writing in 4th grade was wonderful! I wrote amazing stories. My two favorite stories were "The Arctic Adventure" and "Haunted House." I loved writing because I can let my creativity run loose and flow. Publishing my stories was probably the best part of making them. Publishing was the best part because when you type the story you can add cool fonts, colors and pictures (which make you picture the story even more)!
When we get in the classroom every day we start our day with doing morning work! Morning work is what we do to get our brains focused and ready for the day in front of us. We do three things: a math sheet, a reading sheet, and a journal topic. After that we find a place to sit on the rug in a circle and say "hello" or "good morning" in a language Mrs. Munson chooses. Finally, we do messages. Messages is when kids on certain days share about their week. Some classmates share a lot and some share little or say "pass."
