This session is designed to give you some "super" tech ideas to take your students from consumption to creation!

There is so much more to iPads than APPS!

tech for consumption

  • play games
  • watch videos
  • look stuff up... "research"
  • learn skills from apps or software
  • read ebooks
Consumption is students absorbing for learning or entertainment. The tools we use for this would be ebooks, apps, websites for students, and search engines.

Tech for creation

  • take photos
  • produce digital art
  • create & edit video
  • digital storytelling, building vocabulary
  • communicate & collaborate
Creation is to produce or discover something new.

Tools we can use are digital cameras, smartphones, iPads or other tablets, computer, art apps, Skype, video recording and editing apps.

no tech for tech's sake!

If we have these great technology resources in our classrooms, we need to use them wisely and with purpose! We don't just need them in there to "say we are using technology"....and for goodness sake...we definitely need to be using them....not letting them collect dust!

We HAVE to now think about technology integration like we think and teach about "book handling skills"... "Tech handling skills" will prepare children for lifelong technology use!

We have to make technology an intentional part of our lesson planning & daily routine. We should do this by selecting the tech tools that align with our curriculum objectives. NOW, we must plan technology use just as another tool to get the job done...like books, crayons, paper, etc...

SO...OFF TO OUR "SUPER" TECH INTEGRATION ADVENTURE

PHotography
