Pop music originated in the 1950s. It developed from rock and roll. As you know, music defiantly changed.

In the 1960s pop music began with artists like Chubby Checker, and Little Eva.

In the 1970s pop was even more developed by, Elton John, and ABBA which is a Swedish pop band.
In the 1980s pop music had people like Phil Collins and his former band Genesis.
In the 1990s pop music had Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, and the Backstreet Boys and a lot of other people.

In the 2000s pop had people like Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Jesse McCartney, and a lot more.
In the 2010s we had pop artists like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, and Madonna
Now we have people like Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, and many more.
The pace and the beat changed over time. The beat definitely increased in speed. The lyrics became more developed. The artists also changed. And that is how pop music evolved.
