THE HUNGER GAMES

INTERDEPENDANCE

• Katniss and Peeta depend on each other to stay alive in the arena
• They count on Haymitch and other Sponsors to send them resources
• To get resources they need to be well liked
• For example: after Katniss gets burned in the fire, Haymitch sends her medicine to help her

ORDER (SANCTIONS,NORMS)

• Norms: you are not allowed to go out and hunt
• Cannot show signs of rebellion
• Sanctions: if you break any of these rules you could be whipped, killed, get your tongue cut out and become a servant etc.

NEEDS AND WANTS

• Needs: being able to have shelter, food, water and safety
• Wants: having the right to speak out to the capital without being punished, being able to be free and do what you want

HIERARCHY

• Capitol: the Capitol is led by president snow and hold total political and economic dominance over Panem,rules are enforced through an army of peacekeepers
• Districts 1,2,4: District 1 is one of the wealthiest districts, they make luxury goods that decorate the Capitol, District 2 is one of the largest and wealthiest districts,They are known for their stonework, District 4 is a higher ranked district, known for fishing

HIERARCHY CONTINUED..

• Districts 3,5,6: District 3 is one of the poorest, their main industry is technology, 5 and 6 are also very poor
• Districts 7,8,9,10: District 9 is one of the poorest districts, they are in charge or grain
• Districts 11,12: the poorest of all districts, district 12 is where Katniss ams Peeta come from

AUTHORITY (ENFORCEMENT)

• President snow and the gamemakers control everything that goes on in the games
• For example: they made a Forrest fire to control where Katniss was going
• The peacekeepers control the people if they rebel
• The peacekeepers keep the peace by killing the people who rebel
