Women in sports

  • There are many known women's sports teams
  • They do not receive the same funding or publicity.
  • There are still stereotypes
  • (There is a professional women's football team)

Women in the workplace

  • There are not as many women in higher area's of the office
  • Many still believe women should go for jobs that have more to do with family life.
  • Stereotypes are very present in work surroundings.
  • There have been many women, cheated out of wages

Social/Economic

  • Right to work
  • Right to fair wage
  • These are social/economic rights, as women have the right to vote, and according to the law, a woman can apply for any job. The issue is people believing they can get away with cheating women out of fair wage, simply because of gender.

Paradox

  • The constitution claims freedom for all
  • However it excludes the women, as well as other minority groups such as african americans.
  • America is the land of opportunities, yet with all the workers rights laws, women are still cheated in the working world.
  • Although we have made much progress, stereotypes of women still exists and shape our opinions.
  • We frown upon the treatment of women in other cultures yet in our culture (the media, hollywood mostly) Women are seen less as people and more like objects.

How can we improve

  • We can stop allowing the stereotypes cloud our judgment
  • Women can take a more assertive stance in the working world
  • Women are already beginning to take a part in the un, helping to make sure things work for everyone.
  • Women in the media, especially in hollywood or the show business world, should stop allowing themselves to be treated like objects, and demand respect.
