  • Educated at Collegiate School of St Peter and the University of Adelaide.

  • Married Mary Ethel Hayter Reed in 19/10/1926, their marriage was an unhappy one.
  • He was a professor in pathology at the University of Sheffield.
  • In 1949, Florey went to world War 2 and used penicillin to heal soldiers.
  • Howard Florey is one of Australia's best known scientists.
  • His picture was on the $50 note
