DESCRIBE NOMADIC SOCIETY AND ITS EFFECTS ON TRADE.

  • The Mongols epitomized nomadic society and culture.
  • They had 2 social classes which were nobles and commoners.
  • The commoners could win recognition as leader with courageous behavior during war.
  • The Nomads sought to trade with settled people starting from as early as the Classical Era.
  • The Nomads participated in long distance trades.

ANALYZE TURKISH MILITARY EXPANSION INCLUDING THAT OF THE SELJUKS.

  • The Nomadic leaders organized vast alliances of all people to a Khan.
  • The Khans did not directly rule but through the leaders of allied tribes.
  • The Nomads had massive military power because of the oustsnding cavalry forces, superior equestrian skills, amd organization.
  • The Turkish Military had accurate arrows and they coordinated their movements to confuse/overwhelm opponents.
  • The Turkish Nomads began to seize settler societies and build imperial states in the regions that surround Central American in the tenth century.

EXPLAIN HOW GENGHIS KHAN ATTEMDED SO MUCH POWER.

  • Genghis Khan has made an alliance with a prominent Mongol clan leader.
  • He had mastered steppe diplomacy.
  • Khan had showed personal courage in battle, willingness to betray allies or superiors for selfish reasons, and his ability to entice tribes into relationships,
  • In 1206 he was named Chinggis Khan after an assembly of Mongol leaders.
  • Chinggis Khan had strengthened position by forging alliances, conquering centenders for power, and tur ing agsing a ally.

DESCRIBE HOW THE MONGOLS WERE ORGANIZED POLITICALLY. (WHO DID KHAN CHOOSE FOR IMPORTANT POSTS?

  • The Pax Mongolica was a time of relative peace throughout the Old World that led to an increase in trade and awareness.
  • Loyalty was expected by everyone to Genghis Khan no mattar if you are from the lowest or highest classes.
  • There were positions of honor given to soldiers on the basis of bravery in battle and loyalty was shown by them
  • The outcome of having various religions under one empire led Genghis Khan to exempt taxes on priests and freedom of religion.

DESCRIBE MONGOLIAN RULE UNDER KUBLAI KHAN. (HIS MILITARY CAMPAIGNS)

  • He had unleashed ruthless attacks against his enemies but he also took a keen interest in cultural matters and worked to improve thr welfare of his subjects.
  • Kublai had elimineated resistance throughout China and extended Mongol rule to al of China.
  • He had actively promoted Buddhism and provided support for Daoists, Muslims, and Christians in his realm.
  • He had proclaimed himself as emperor and established the Yuan dynastybwhich had ruled China until it had collapsed in 1368.
