They are an energy reserve, they they are the basis for hormones and vitamins, and they are critical components for cellular membrane

Lipids have long chains of alkyl groups

Lipids include natural oils waxes and steroids

Lipids protect tissues from damage

The primary function of fats is to store energy

Lipids preserve heat

The most common steroid is cholesterol

Lipids can be extracted from plants and animals
