Why should we appreciate them?
The importance of earthworms in the aeration and fertilisation of the soil is well known. They bring organic matter down into their burrows from the surface.
Without them?
The ground would be very hard and dry, making it difficult for plants to grow. That will effect the human race very dramatically.
People use them (Farmers)
Many farmers will use earth worms to increase production and value. Since what earth worms do are a natural fertilizer, then they make the perfect help for farmers with dry soil.
