Tone and Mood

Tone: Melancholy, because she had to suffer.

Symbolism

Symbolism is used in the title because the girl's loophole of retreat was the shed.

Predictions and Inferences

In the beginning of the story I predicted that loophole of retreat was somewhere she hid or lived in. I inferred that Dr.Flint used to be her slave owner and that he really wanted to find her.

Examples Of Literary Terms

-Antagonist- Dr.Flint was trying to hunt down the slave girl.
-Imagery- The shed was dark, dirty, and small.
