CONNOTATIONS

  • Similie:"If my father were alive, he would play his accordion and sway like a boat
  • This shows similie by saying his father danced to the rhythm of his accordion like a boat sways
  • Diction:"I've never been in Peking"
  • It shows diction by choosing to using the word Pecking for Beijing

REFLECTION

  • The poem spoke to me in many ways
  • The first thing that i recognized was that it was about a kid who his father had died
  • Also that he never really got to enjoy fun stuff with his dad
  • The kid explains how he feels, he holds so much pain
  • I appreciated in this poem, how you can always remember the good memories you have had with a special person

REFLECTION

  • The author wrote this poem to talk about what he has been through
  • I know this because Li-Young Lee actually lost his father many times due to politics
  • His father was in prison for a long time due to political problems so him and his family fled China
  • So i think his father died and they never saw him
