CORE:

  • The center or most important part of something
  • The earths core is one of the most important parts

MANTLE:

  • THE REGION OF THE INTERIOR
  • The earths mantle is very hot 🔥

CRUST:

  • The hard outer portion
  • The crust is the outer portion of the earth

CONTINENTAL DRIFT:

  • Is a theory about how continents drifted apart
  • There once one giant continent called pangea

HYDROLOGIC CYCLE:

  • The continues movement of water 💧
  • Clouds build up of water then it rains after that it causes precipitation ♻️

TOPOGRAPHY:

  • the arrangement of the natural and artificial physical features of an area.
  • A Beautiful mountain is a physical feature

TECTONIC PLATE:

  • a theory in geology: the lithosphere of the earth is divided into a small number of plates which float on and travel independently over the mantle and much of the earth's seismic activity occurs at the boundaries of these plates. 2.
  • There is a lot of activity going on by the tectonic plates.

SEISMOGRAPH:

  • an instrument that measures and records details of earthquakes, such as force and duration.
  • The seismograph is very helpful in situations of an earthquake .

RICHTER SCALE:

  • a numerical scale for expressing the magnitude of an earthquake on the basis of seismograph oscillations. The more destructive earthquakes typically have magnitudes between about 5.5 and 8.9; the scale is logarithmic and a difference of one represents an approximate thirtyfold difference in magnitude.
  • The scale help you with information .

RING OF FIRE

  • is an area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean where a large number of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur .
  • There are a lot of plate movements around the ring of fire .

WEATHERING:

  • wear away or change the appearance or texture of something by long exposure to the air.
  • One example of weathering are rocks .

EROSION:

  • the process of eroding or being eroded by wind, water, or other natural agents.
  • Erosion is a natural agent .

FAULT:

  • (of a rock formation) be broken by a fault or faults.
  • The California fault my occur anytime .

DRAINAGE BASIN:

  • extent or an area of land where surface water from rain, melting snow, or ice converges to a single point at a lower elevation
  • the region or area drained by a river system

ATMOSPHERE:

  • the envelope of gases surrounding the earth or another planet.
  • The out line of earth is the atmosphere.

BIOSPHERE:

  • the regions of the surface, atmosphere, and hydrosphere of the earth (or analogous parts of other planets) occupied by living organisms.
  • The biosphere is the area of the planet where organisms live, including the ground and the air.

LITHOSPHERE:

  • the rigid outer part of the earth, consisting of the crust and upper mantle.
  • Lithosphere is defined as the rock and crust surface that covers the Earth.

HYDROSPHERE:

  • all the waters on the earth's surface, such as lakes and seas, and sometimes including water over the earth's surface, such as clouds.
  • all the water on the surface of the earth, including oceans, lakes, glaciers, etc.

LOESS:

  • A loosely compacted yellowish grey deposit of windblown sediment of which extensive deposits occur .
  • The loess was created by the drifted of fine sand and dust .

HUMUS :

  • is dark, organic material that forms in soil when plant and animal matter decays.
  • People may put humus in plants to make it grow.
