CUBISM

  • an early 20th-century style and movement in art, especially painting, in which
  • perspective with a single viewpoint was abandoned and use was made of
  • simple geometric shapes, interlocking planes, and, later, collage.

GEORGE BRAQUE

George was one of the first people to revolutionize Cubism

He stared Cubism with Picasso in 1909

In WWI he suffered a major head injury while fighting

He was born on May 13th, 1882 and died Aug. 31st 1963

Between the years 1897-99 he studied at Ecole des Beaux- Arts.

PICASSO AND BRAQUE

By reducing fractured objects into geometric shapes, cubism was born.

At first Cubism was rejected by artists who thought art should copy nature.

Instruments, bottles, glasses, sand more were used in the start of Cubism.
