HOW IT WORKS

  • Wind turns the turbines blades.
  • The blades turn a shaft.
  • The shaft connects to a generator.
  • The generator makes electricity.
  • It travels to a transformer, to a substation, and then the grid.

USE IN HOMES

HOW IT COULD BE USED

  • It can be used as a supplement to a primary source.
  • Example: Nuclear, Geothermal, or Fossil Fuels
  • It could be used in empty space where it wouldn't be an eyesore.
  • There could be a lot because it's easy to make and renewable.

AFFECTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT

  • Doesn't pollute air
  • Kills small amount of birds
  • May scare away wildlife because of noise

IS IT ACCEPTED TODAY?

MOST PEOPLE ACCEPT WIND ENERGY BECAUSE THEY ARE CLEAN/RENEWABLE

PROS

  • Low cost
  • Clean and renewable energy
  • Can be used almost anywhere
  • Free once infrastructure is paid for
  • Low carbon footprint

CONS

  • Localized impact on weather
  • Eyesore
  • Wind isn't constant
  • Kills small amounts of bats and birds
