INSIDE THE EARTH
Core: the hottest and centre bit of the earth
Mantle: hot, some rocks are semi molten and flow
Crusts: thinner outer shell, Made From Solid Rocks
Plates: slabs of earth, carries continents
Plate bounderies: where plate meets.

4.
SLIDING PLATES
This is when plates pass by each other.
Cause: earthquakes

5.
COLLIDING PLATES
Currents of molten drag the toward each other
Causes: (i) earthquakes (ii) fold mountains (iii) ocean trenches
Ravages
6.
SEPARATING PLATES
Current molten in mantle drags plate apart
Causes: (i) volcanic islands (ii) volcanic mountains (iii)mid ocean ridge

EARTHQUAKES
FORMED WHEN PLATES SLIDE OR COLLIDE

8.
FORMED
When plates slide or collide they cause compression underneath the earths surface causing a crack
The crack is know as the focus
The crack causes shockwaves around the focus
These cause the earth to tremble or quake.the epic centre is where the strongest effects occure.
The Seismograph is used to measure earth quakes.

(3) VOLCANIC ACTIVITY
Plates seperate causeing magma to force its self through the crack onto the surface
Magma then cools and hardens, which is then known as lava
When lava is poured quietly it is known as Mid- Ocean- Ridge
When lava violently forces its way out through a vent its known as Volcanic activity

TYPES OF VOLVANOES
Active: Erupts regularly EG: Etna, vesuvius Italy
Dormant: Hasn't erupted in a long time but may erupt EG: Cotopaxi, Ecuador
Extinct: hasnt erupted in historical times EG: Slemish, Co Antrim, Ireland
