PURPOSE

  • I wanted to see if people remember better by seeing or by hearing.
  • I hypothesized that if people took a visual test and an auditory test, then more people would
  • do better on the visual test.
  • I also hypothesized that girls would do better on the visual test and boys would do better on the auditory test.

PROCEDURE

  • I tested thirty teenagers ranging from ages 13-18.
  • Fifteen girls and fifteen boys.
  • They each took a visual test and an auditory test.
  • They had thirty seconds for the visual test.
  • For the auditory test I read the numbers to them three times slowly.

RESULTS

  • More people scored higher on the visual test than on the auditory test.
  • Girls scored higher than boys in visual and boys scored higher than girls in auditory.
  • Visual: Girls scored an average of 92 and boys scored an average of 88.
  • Auditory: Girls scored an average of 62 and boys scored an average of 71.3
  • Overall: People scored an average of 90 on the visual and 66.7 for auditory.
