PRESENTATION OUTLINE
1.
COOKING WITH THE SUN!
THIS YEAR WE WANTED TO COOK FOOD USING THE SUN!
2.
PRIOR KNOWLEDGE
We know:
The sun provides energy to all living things.
The sun gives off heat.
The sun can be used to cook food.
The sun makes food for plants and is a renewable energy source.
3.
QUESTIONS
We wanted to know if we could cook food in a shoebox?
We wanted to know how long it would take?
We wanted to know what types of food we could cook in the solar oven?
4.
PREDICTIONS
WE PREDICT IT WOULD THAT 30 MINUTES TO COOK OUR S'MORE!
5.
MATERIALS
Shoeboxes
Aluminum foil
Black paper/plastic bags
Tape
Glue
6.
CLAIMS AND EVIDENCE
We claimed that it would take the ovens 10 to 30 minutes to cook smores.
We based this on an earlier experiment we did on Friday. The weather was partly cloudy.(cooler)
Monday the weather was sunny with little wind and few clouds.
We also based this on how much heat loss and heat gain we would have during the process.
We felt that Monday would give better results because the weather was better.(warmer)
7.
CONCLUSION
The s'mores cooked faster on Monday than Friday!
The clouds and wind made it hard to conduct the experiment on Friday!
8.
FINAL REFLECTIONS
We would have materials that we can clean easily!
We would find better places where there is not much shade!
We could find a place with little wind.
We would focus on making ovens that have little heat loss.
