• opposite from total war

THE MALVINAS/FALKLANDS WAR (1982)

• Britain and Argentina went to war over the Falklands islands/Malvins in 1982
• 30,000 men fought over a remote group of islands with only 2,000 inhabitants
• Both sides fought a limited war
• it was a short war that lasted 3 months
• president Leopoldo Galtieri authorized the invasion

The Gulf War

• Iraqi accuses Kuwait and UAE of flooding the oil market
• August 2, 1999 Iraqi invades Kuwait, Iraqi blames mainly Kuwait.
• January 12 congress gives G. Bush to go to war against Iraqi
• H. Norman Shwarzkopf made a Air Force campaign to disable Iraqi communication, defense, and radars
• March 8 Bush announced the liberation of Kuwait.

The Spanish Civil War

• Fought between 1936-39
• the military went against the republican government
• Spain was broken into two parties:Nationalist & Republicans
• Nationalist got aid from Italy and Germany
• Republicans got aid from Europe & United States

THE CHINESE CIVIL WAR

• china was broken into two parties : nationalist and the communist
• USSR aided china, the people didn't like the communist party
• broken in to provinces and warlords would be their commanders
• the nationalist would break the pack they had with the communist to try to bulid China back as one
• The U.S would try to help China with the Marshall plan
