Volcanoes

Casey Douglas

A volcano is a mountain that has an opening in a downwards position to molten rock beneath the Earth's surface.

Volcanoes form when pressure builds up.

Gases and rock launch up from the ground, through the hole, and spills over the edge.

Volcanic eruptions/activity is caused by magma and heat.

The three main types of volcanoes are composite volcanoes, shield volcanoes, and dome volcanoes.

Some volcanic eruptions that have in my happened in my time are Krakatoa, Mount Pelee, and Mount Fuji.

The worst volcanic eruptions has happened in all of time is Mount St. Helens.

The effects of a volcanic eruption are damaging/destroying homes and property. They can cost millions of dollars in reparations such as Mount St. Helens which costed about 5.2 million dollars.

The effects on the environment could be wiping out a whole forest, triggering tsunamis, flash floods, earthquakes, mudflows, and rockfalls.

Seismographs can be used to detect earthquakes that contribute to volcanic activity.

The only signal to warm people about volcanic activity is an earthquakes.

Some animals are able to hear infrasound, sense small vibrations, and can react to changes in electrical current.
