THE MOOR CULTURE

In the late15th century. Coffee was invented by a man named Khalid was tending his goats when he noticed his animals had more energy after eating a certain bean. He boiled the beans to make the first coffee

Many people drink coffee for the energy boost.
We have figured out how to make decaf coffee.

In 852 A man named Abbas ibn Firnas made several attempts to construct a flying machine. Once he jumped off minaret of the Grand Mosque in Cordoba using a loose cloak stiffened with wooden struts. He hoped to glide, He didn't. But the cloak slowed his fall, creating the first parachute, leaving him only injured. he perfected a machine of silk and eagle feathers and tried again, but jumped off a mountain. He flew for ten minutes but crashed on landing because there was no tail so it would stall on landing.

People fly planes and use parachutes all the time now.
Some people use flight suits.
We have made the material lighter and stronger than a cloak.

In 634 a windmill was invented for a Persian caliph used to grind corn and draw up water. In the deserts of Arabia, when the streams ran dry, the only source of power was the wind which blew from one direction for months. Mills had 6 or 12 sails covered in fabric or palm leaves.

One of the main sources of power today is wind turbines. But we have machines to grind wheat to flour.
We made them thiner and more energy efficient.

The fountain pen was invented for the Sultan of Egypt in 953 after he wanted a pen which would not stain his hands or clothes. It held ink in a tube , like with modern pens, fed ink to the nib ( writing part ) by gravity.

The pen is the second most used writing utensil in America.
We have made the ink cartridge smaller so they are more portable.

Washing and bathing are religious requirements for Muslims, which is why they made a recipe for soap which we still use today. The ancient Egyptians had soap, so did the Romans. But it was the Arabs who combined vegetable oils with sodium hydroxide and aromatics such as thyme oil. One of the most striking smell, to Arab nostrils. In 1759 Shampoo was introduced to England by a Muslim.

Almost everybody uses soap and shampoo today
(it was probably a rare thing to wash with soap)
We have added artificial scents to our soap.

Time line 😀
