COORDINATE = IDEAS; SUBORDINATE MINOR IDEAS
- Two choices when combining two or more ideas
- Coordination: indicates whether the idea is =
- Subordination: incates that one idea is more important than the other
COORDINATION
- Draws attention equally to 2 or more ideas
- To coordinate single words or phrases join them
- Join them with: cordinating conjuction or a pair or correlative conjunctions
- Cordinating ind. clauses- FANBOY or a ; to a sentence with a complete thought
- Ex:
SUBORDINATION
- Gives unequal emphasis on 2 or more ideas
- Express the major idea in an ind. clause first
- Express the minor idea in a subordinate clause second.
EMPHASIZE KEY IDEAS
- Each sentence emphasize your point
- Express it in the subject and verb of an ind. clause
