PRESENTATION OUTLINE

"They said..."

Technological displacement in the office products industry.

Post Binders and Ledger Sheets.

"Will be around forever."

Then they said..

"Computers have arrived. The paperless office is at hand."

"What! No more IBM Selectrics that use ribbons? No more post binders and ledger sheets? No more Liquid Paper? We're all doomed!"

"Maybe we're not doomed. Those computers use floppy disks and we can sell those!"

"And dot matrix printers use ribbons and tractor feed paper by the boatload. Hooray!"

The trend continued.

  • Backup tapes replaced floppy disks.
  • USB Flash drives replaced backup tapes.
  • Laser toner and ink cartridges replaced printer ribbons.
  • Cut sheet paper replaced tractor feed paper.
  • ..and on it went.

"What a relief, the 'paperless office' was nothing but a myth."

And paper related products flourished.

  • Ring Binders and indexes.
  • Storage file boxes.
  • Paper shredders.
  • Punches, staplers, clips.
  • And on, and on, and on.

"Uh oh."

Wonder what this means?

Yep..

It's real this time. Paperless is here.
