IDENTIFYING CHARACTERISTICS

  • Light yellow to olive green on the back
  • Yellowish to white belly
  • White chin barbs
  • Has a notch in the distal end of the caudal fin
  • Rounded tail
  • Lacks scales

LIFE OF YELLOW BULLHEAD

  • Usually lives for up to 7 years
  • Spawn between late spring and early summer
  • The average size of the bullhead is 7.99-10 inches and weighing in at 1 pound
  • The maximum length of the fish is 18 inches.
  • They are omnivores
  • Rarely reach an edible size

Habitat
Prefers to inhabit ponds, lakes, and slow moving streams

Commonly found in the central and eastern United States
