PRESENTATION OUTLINE
A- American
The land of diversity. During Ponyboy's time the diversity is between socials and greasers. And it's not the good kind what makes them different also makes them hate each other. America is full of terms with good and bad meanings alike.
B- Blades
Wanted for Murder: Pony Boy and Johnny
Switch blades are commonly. Carried around by greasers and socs alike. But when Johnny confronts his long lost tormentor, bob, a soc, and he starts to drown pony boy, Johnny's blade is no longer for fear and intimidation tactics. His switch blade may have taken the sample but Johnny is the one with blood on his hands.
C- Cars
Cars are part of who greasers are. Especially modified cars, meant to impress. From corviars to corvettes to mustangs, greasers love them. But the problem is when a car is following pony boy, it never means something good. It usually means a jump from the socs is soon. Cars are part of a greasers soul but they can also mean trouble.
D- Darry
Darry. Guardian, protector, brother. These are all the things Darry is to his family and maybe even his friends. In capable of love, not human, cold. These are some of the ways pony boy views his older brother. It may not be right but he has assumed the role of father in pony boy, soda pop, and Darry's family after there parents died. He's just looking out for pony boy.
E- Equality
There's not much of it. Socials come from upper class families while greasers consists of lower class families. No can control their fate of what class they'll land in but both can think that the lack of equality is what separates them.
F- Family
Greasers are more than friends, they're all family put together by similar events and experiences. They stick together and watch out for each other. But Ponyboy has another family. One tied together by blood. Darry, Ponyboy, and Sodapop are a family that can't be separated and will always help each other out, just like the greaser family.
G- Greasers
Greased back hair and a love for cars, greasers consist of people in the lower class. This doesn't help pony boy in school though. He's often made fun of, especially from socs. Whom attack him because of his interest and opinions. But mess with one greaser then the whole gang becomes involved. Pony boy can always know he's safe with his friends and family around because greasers watch out for each other. Pony boy knows they got his back.
H- Haircut
Pony boys pride resides with his hair. Cutting his hair is like ripping away who he is. Johnny knows this, in fact he sort of feels the same. All greasers actually have felt this way one way or another. When Johnny cuts Ponyboy's hair in the church Ponyboy becomes a different person not just because there on the run.
