INGE AUERBACHER

  • On November 10, 1938, hoodlums threw rocks and broke all the windows of our home
  • That same day police arrested her father and grandfather
  • At 7 she was deported to Theresienstadt ghetto in Czechoslovakia.
  • May 8, 1945, Inge and her parents were liberated from the Theresienstadt ghetto
  • They emigrated to the United States on May 1946

ARTHUR MENKE

  • Arthur was born to a Jewish family in Germany's largest port city Hamburg.
  • In 1941 he was deported 800 miles east to Minsk ghetto in the USSR.
  • He was put to work in a nearby German army base, cutting peat for fuel.
  • He was liberated while on a forced march to the Dachau camp in 1945.
