- Examine the climate of Southern Asia?
Monsoons
Southern Asia has three seasons: dry, hot, and wet. Monsoons are seasonal winds that affect these seasons.
Example:
A Dry monsoon blows during the dry season across the north of India.
Cyclone:
An "intense tropical storm with high winds and heavy rains." Very similar to hurricanes. Tidal waves often follow.
1999 Cyclone killed 10,000 people and left 15 million homeless.
Climate Zone
Tropical:
Much of south and central India have a tropical and dry climate. Bangladesh has climate which is wet tropical. What might a difference be?
Dry and Temperate Climates:
Dry climate areas, such as the north of India, ensure that farmers must use irrigation to grow food. Also, many areas are grasslands.
Highlands
South Asia's norther edge has mountains higher than 16,000 feet. Snow is always there and life can be hard. Places like Nepal and Tibet are included here.
