BASIC LIVING FINAL PROJECT

KASSIDY DEMUNNIK BLOCK 3

GOAL SETTING/ WANTS AND NEEDS

SMART GOALS
Smart goals are very specific and to the point.
Specific- exactly what needs to be done
Measurable- a goal that can be measured
Attainable- directions to reach this goal
Realistic- no unrealistic goals
Time bound- when the goal will be met

MY GOAL
My goal is to receive all A's this year. This is to have a 4.0. To reach this goal I will do lots of studying all my homework and pay attention in class. I plan to reach this goal by the end of sophomore year.

NEEDS AND WANTS

  • Needs are what you need to live
  • Wants are extras that you dont necessarily need
  • Need examples; food, water, love, shelter
  • Want examples; phone, designer clothes, makeup

MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES/ LEARNING STYLE

Definitions
Multiple intelligence shows you your strengths and weaknesses while learning. Learning styles is how you learn best.

MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES
I am spatial which means I learn by seeing and observing, I can recall information by pictures in my head. I am also interpersonal meaning I work well with others and enjoy using teamwork.

LEARNING STYLE
My learning style is tactile. I learn best by seeing something and being hands-on. By being able to feel something and being active I can remember information a lot better and get more of the information.

DECISION MAKING/ SELF CONCEPT

PROS AND CONS
When decision making it's very helpful to look at the pros and cons of the situation. I have learned by writing out the bad and the good of a situation you can see what is the best choice.

SELF CONCEPT
The self concept cycle can be either negative or positive and it either boosts or lowers your self esteem.

BUILDING YOUR SELF ESTEEM

  • Surround yourself with positive people
  • Build others up
  • Improve yourself; learn something new
  • Be a friend to yourself
  • Dont say negative things about yourself

TIME AND STRESS MANAGEMENT

TIPS ON TIME MANAGEMENT

  • Do most important things first
  • Use less technology
  • Multi-task
  • Fill out an agenda daily
  • Be perpared for anything

"FIGHT OR FLIGHT"
This is a stress response. Fight means you stand up to the problem and tackle it. On the other hand, flight means you leave it alone and run away from the problem. Personally, I tend to chose the fight response when it comes to stress.

CLUTTER PERSONALITY
My clutter personality is a perfectionist. I have OCD so everything must be perfect and organized correctly. Perfectionists won't fix a clutter problem until they know that they can complete the task to their best ability.

CRISIS MANAGEMENT

RAPIST PROFILE

  • Late teens through their 30's
  • Beaten or sexually abused themselves
  • Want power and dominance over someone
  • 39% drink before committing the rape

REDUCING YOUR CHANCES OF BEING RAPED

  • Dont walk alone anywhere
  • Keep doors and windows locked
  • Never hide a key anywhere
  • Dont talk to strangers
  • Trust your instinct on danger

IF YOUR VICTIMIZED
If you have been raped there is a few things you must do. You must go to the emergency room immediately without showering. Save clothing and bedding. Report to the police and use family and friend's moral support.

COMMUNICATION

TEXTING
Communication through texting is both good and bad. Good because you can communicate fast and someone can use it for help like advice. Bad because people feel more powerful behind a screen, cyber bullying, and people become immune to texting and become anti-social. I think using texting for communication has more pros than it does cons.

CONSTRUCT & DESTRUCT
There are two ways you can communicate and that is by using constructive and destructive communication.
Constructive builds a person up. Examples of this are compliments and encouraging. Destructive is bringing someone down. Examples of this are teasing and making negative remarks .

"I" MESSAGES
This type of message is used to state your feelings without disrespecting others. In "I" messages avoid using the word you. An example if someone calls you lazy is... I feel angry when I get called lazy because I do my best to stay active and busy.

DATING

UNHEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

BREAKUPS
When breaking up with someone it can go good or bad depending on how you do it. A good way to breakup is by doing it face to face. A bad way is having someone else do it for you or doing it over texts.

LOVE LANGUAGES

  • Words of affirmation- saying nice things
  • Quality time- spending time alone together
  • Receiving gifts- giving things
  • Acts of service- doing things for eachother
  • Physicsl touch- hugging and kissing
