  • California became a free state
  • Slave trade was prohibited in capital
  • Texas lost boundary conflict with New Mexico

BENEFITS FOR SOUTH

  • No slave restrictions in Utah or New Mexico
  • Slavery was permitted in capital
  • Texas receives $10 dollars
  • Fugitive Slave Law

LONG TERM RESULTS
