The preliminary task was somewhat of a challenge to me. I ended up having multiple problems the first time I filmed it and started editing and so my group and I had to go back and film again. The editing stage was rather simple and we only had to work with a small amount of raw footage. We simply had to match up the shots and make them flow together to show good use of continuity. After all of these problems, we produced a very simple sequence of someone walking through a door and starting a conversation. (we included match on action, shot reverse shot, and abided to the 180 degree rule)

Overall our preliminary task was rather bland and didn't include any Foley sound or special effects. I felt that we were good at showing continuity and overall match on action was very good. However it was in general very bland and the content of it was boring to watch and so wouldn't engage an audience very much. Also there wasn't much preparation for the preliminary task. We simply drew a rough storyboard and used that as a rough guide. Overall i feel that in our preliminary task we were simply showing different concepts and camera shots as opposed to presenting a possible storyline.

Our Main task was a lot more complex compared to the preliminary task. There was an immense lot of preparation for it e.g. Production meetings, giving a pitch, story boarding and then finally filming. Also we were working to a specific deadline and so there was no room for mistakes and we had to film all the footage we needed. After filming day, we had a large amount of raw footage and so had to edit all of this into a short opening to a professional looking film. The editing stage definitely took the longest in this process.

We had to show good use again of match on action and continuity. I felt that we improved further at doing this in our main task and so definitely showed good use of this. We also abided to the 180 degree rule (for the classroom scene) and did some shot reverse shot shot's. We got more creative with the camera angles and used more conventions e.g. leading lines, colour scheme. Through the course of the editing stage we also added in title screens, Foley sound, ambience sound and music. This helped our opening look overall a lot more professional and legitimate. It also helped engage the audience a lot more compared to our preliminary task.

Overall i feel like we were more creative when filming and editing our opening sequence and that instead of simply shoeing concepts and camera shots, we were focused on presenting a possible storyline and engaging the audience.

Overall, I have learnt a lot since my simple preliminary task. My knowledge of camera shots and what I can do with them has grown immensely. I'm a lot more creative through the whole process of filming, editing and coming up with a possible storyline, I have definitely grown more awareness of the audience and way to engage them and make them interested in our product. I have also learnt how to make our piece of media look professional (by adding in title screens etc..) , My knowledge of editing has improved extensively (continuity, adding in music, Foley, ambience sound) And I have also learnt the overall process of creating a film/opening and how to make it available for the public (Pre production, Production and post production and distribution.
