NAME AND CAUSE OF TUBERCULOSIS

  • TB (Tuberculosis) is caused by MycroBacterium. The high Lipid content of this pathogen accounts for many of its unique clinical characteristics
  • TB is also linked to Overcrowding and malnutrition.
  • Chronic lung disease is also a significant cause.

Symptoms

  • Chronic Cough
  • Blood Tinged Mucus
  • Fever
  • Night Sweats
  • Weight Loss

Notable Cases

  • There have been no notable specific Major out breaks or cases of TB

CURES AND TREATMENTS

  • One of the only treatments for TB is Antibiotics. Some strains of TB are already drug resistant, and antibiotics may be un effective

HISTORY OF TB

  • The earliest evidence of TB were found in the remains of bison in wyoming dated to around 17000 years ago.
  • TB was identified on the 24th of March 1882 by Robert Koch. He received the nobel prize for medicine and physiology in 1905 for his discovery.

VACCINES

  • BCG (baccile-calmette-guerin). Is a TB vaccine.
  • BCG is only recommended for children because of varying effectiveness against TB in adults

PREVENTION TECHNIQUES

  • Tuberculosis prevention and control efforts primarily rely on the vaccination of infants and the detection and treatment of TB cases

AFFECTED ORGANS AND BODY SYSTEMS

  • TB primarily affects the respiratory system. And is found in the lungs. TB in the lungs makes it hard to breathe and gives you a cough that brings up thick bloody mucus.
  • 2% of TB infections can progress to TB meningitis. Affecting the brain and the nervous system by severe brain damage. Epilepsy, paralysis and hearing loss

TB is most commonly found in Africa and Asia. But has infected people all around the world
