All birds have feathers.

They are the only animals that have them.

Feathers are used to keep birds warm, dry, and help in flying.

Birds of Prey:
Some birds, called raptors, hunt small animals and eat meat.

Raptors have excellent eyesight that is much better than ours that they use for spotting prey.

Raptors use their strong beaks to slash and rip at their prey.

They also use their sharp talons to hold onto prey and balance in trees.

Waterfowl:

Waterfowl are birds that spend most of their time in the water.

When they are on land they are often clumsy and awkward.

Waterfowl have beaks, called bills, that allow them to root around in mud for food.

Most waterfowl also migrate, or travel from one region to another depending on the season.
