There are many different types of skin colors.

What causes skin color variation in humans?

Climate

• The time or place you are in plays a part in skin variation
• If you are in a very hot place like some parts of Africa then you could be very dark
• If you are caucasian and you live in some parts of Africa then you would probably become tanned

Genetics

• Genetics also plays a role in skin color variation
• If your mom is caucasian and your dad is black then their baby will end up mixed.

Skin Color

• Skin color is left up to a pigment called melanin
• Melanin is responsible for tanning your skin when you are exposed to sun
