WHAT IS A TAPEWORM?

  • parasitic flatworm
  • Lives in the intestine of humans and other vertebrates.
  • Is an infectious worm that affect the body intestine.

KITCHEN COOKING TIPS TO HELP PREVENT TAPEWORMS:

  • You can prevent tapeworm infection by cooking pork, beef or fish thoroughly.
  • Wash hands before and while preparing meals.
  • Dont allow raw meat or fish to come into contact with cooked foods.
  • Freeze your meats and fish at 14F (for at least 48hrs.)
  • pickling may also kill tapeworm.

TAPEWORMS & PETS

  • Avoid contact with animals if they are infected.
  • After contact with animal wash hands thoroughly with soap and water.
  • Try not to feed your dogs or other meat eating animal, raw meats.
  • Get your animals treated for tapeworms as adviced by vet.
  • Change animals water regularly so it does not become contaminated.

HOW TO PREVENT TAPEWORMS THROUGH YOUR PERSONAL HYGIENE:

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
  • (Before and after eating and after coming into contact with toilet)
  • Also wash hands after contact with pets and farm animals.
  • Be sure to clean all dirt and grime from under nail before eating.
  • Also Be sure that the rest of your body does not have dirt or particles on it that could fall in food.

SYMPTOMS OF TAPEWORMS IN HUMAN:

  • pain above the stomach or in the abdomen
  • Nausea or Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea
  • Weight loss & Loss of appetite
  • Dizziness

TREATMENT FOR TAPEWORMS:

- Go see a doctor and get some medication.
