CHARACTERISTICS OF EACH KEY STAGE OF PE IN ENGLAND

  • Key stage 1: age:5-7 year group:1-2
  • Key stage 2: age 7-11 year group 3-6
  • Key stage 3: age 11-14 year group 7-9
  • Key stage 4: age 14-16 year group 10-11

KEY STAGE AIMS

  • KEY STAGE 1 AIM: Enjoy learning
  • KEY STAGE 2 AIM: devlelop a broader range of skills
  • KEY STAGE 3 AIM: excel in physical activities
  • KEY STAGE 4 AIM: use and develop a variety of tactics

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ENGLAND AND OTHER HOME COUNTRIES

  • In Northern Ireland they start a year earlier then in England
  • But they start key stage 1 a year later
  • This means that they spend only 3 years in key stage 2
  • Where as England and Wales spend 4 years in key stage 2
  • In Scotland it is completely different and don't have keys stages

HOW CHILDREN ARE ASSESSED IN KEY STAGE 3 PE

  • At the end of Key Stage 3 they will be assessed in all subjects
  • this will help them decide what subjects they should take
  • It will also allow them to be grouped by ability
  • And it will help them prepare for there gcses

  • An outstanding school is Graveney school
  • Ofsted gave them a grade 1 in pe
  • excellent stranded of teaching and learning

MY PE POLICY

  • Everyone would get an equal quality of learning
  • At least 4 hours of pe per weak
  • Help to promote a healthy lifestyle
  • Contribute to physical development of a child's size
  • Contribute to 6 areas of pe e.g. Rules of different games
