  • Went to Gray Coat School and learned to be a sailor there

WHEN DID THOMPSON EXPLORE?

  • He did his explorations between 1797 - 1812
  • In 1807 he found the pass between the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Ocean
  • In 1797 - 1798 he joined the Northwest Company to work and mapped the U.S. Border
  • In 1812 he finished mapping Northwestern Canada the United States
  • Pin 1811 he followed the Columbia River to the Pacific Ocean
