JOSELITO EL GALLO

ANA PEREZ

José Gómez Ortega, commonly known as Joselito, was a Spanish matador in the early twentieth century. Joselito was considered a child prodigy and was the youngest bullfighter to receive the title of matador de toros, at the age of 17.

He was born Born: May 8, 1895, Seville, Spain

Joselito was a third-generation bullfighter. His father Fernando Gómez García, known as El Gallo (The Rooster) - Joselito's previous nickname, Gallito, was a diminutive form of this nickname

Joselito came from a family of bullfighters and was the youngest man ever to receive the title of matador (October 1912). He began his professional career at age 12 and celebrated his 16th birthday by killing six bulls. Joselito adopted Belmonte’s unorthodox style, in which the matador remains almost stationary during the bull’s charge, avoiding the animal’s horns by skillful manipulation of the cape

He died May 16 of 1920 by a bull, named bailed or (Dancer)of the livestock of the widow of Ortega, small and burriciego (only saw by far) rammed into Joselito inflicting a mortal stab to the stomach that led to his death.
