  • Siddhartha experienced the pain,suffering,sickness
  • He felt grief by all mankind.

  • Desire  is  the  cause  of  suffering.
  • To end suffering you must end desire.
  • Does not believe In a deity.
  • It teaches reincarnation.
  • Not always nirvana can be reached.

DIFFUSION/SPREAD

  • Spread to south east Asia and to east Asia.
  • It is a religion that seeks others.

  • Founded by Kung Fu-Tzu
  • Began in China

  • It is not a religion but an ethical code
  • The primary goals are order, harmony,peace and happiness on earth
  • The  most  important  principle deal  with  the  standard  of  that  controls social  actions
  • The ethical code deals with individuals, society and goverment

  • Spread by his followers after the death of Confucius.
  • The principles of Confucius became foundation of Chinese education
  • The teachings spread to Korea and Japan

TAOISM

  • Grew from ancient Chinese philosophies
  • Founded by Lao-Tse
  • In some ways it grew from a reaction to the spread of Confucianism and Buddhism

  • Tao(The Way) is a series of philosophical teachings that focus on achieving balance and harmony in the world
  • The symbol that Taoism is most associated with is the Yin/Yang
  • Taoism emphasizes the three Jewels, humility , compassion,and moderation
  • Taoism places great emphasizes on nature ass an example of balance and the way humans should live
  • The  Tao  Te  Ching  is  the  most significant  text
