Ho Chi Minh Trail

otherwise known as the Trường Sơn trail

So, what is the ho chi minh trail anyway?

The Ho Chi Minh Trail was an infamous passage of dirt road that split into many others used by Vietnamese soldiers ‎1959–1975

Named after Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh who began his political career as an outspoken man for the Vietnamese independence

Why was it so important? well, the Ho Chi Minh Trail was used for transporting guns, troops, and support from the south

It being a system of pathways, trails,and river crossings that followed west through Vietnam, it became a strategic gold mine

Around 9,940 miles long and being a confusing mess of tracks, bridges, paths, and dirt roads, it was used by many, turning trips that would before take months into weeks

Traversed by everything from trucks, bikes, military vehicles, and plain infantry, to even elephants!

During use of the trail, many areas were under constant bombing and attack

Air squad misty was focused directly on trying to stop the flow of men and equipment from Hanoi to the south on the trail, using bombing tactics

During its 3 years. misty squad, gained around 157 men to earn the right to be called misty squad

All in hopes to end the flow through. Including one operation, so named operaton rolling thunder

Operation rolling thunder was the first sustained attack on the ho chi min trail launched March 2, 1965 and ended in November 1, 1968.
and was meant to be a large strike towards stopping trail flow

And before rolling thunder in a different struggle was operation hardnose, which was a C.I.A run espionage mission meant for watching the trail and keeping tabs on its use during
the Laotian Civil War.

In the end the Ho Chi Minh Trail played an imense part in the vietnamese strength during the war
