MOUNT EVEREST

  • British mountaineers came up with the idea to reach its summit.
  • Named after George Everest.
  • Climbers face the death zone, which is 26,000 feet or above.

  • One of Asia's two main opium-producing areas.
  • 367,000 square miles.
  • Overlaps the mountains of Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand.
  • Was the largest opium-producing countries until the 21st century, when Afghanistan took over as the leading producer of opium.

  • Visitors are welcome to climb Ayer's Rock.
  • Juts up 350M from its barren surrounds and extending more underground.
  • Large Sandstone rock formation in Central Australia.
  • One of the oldest rocks on Earth.

CHAMPAGNE POOL

  • Filled with carbon dioxide bubbles.

  • 1,472 kilometers in length.
  • It recently has been in poor health.
  • Third-longest river in Australia.
  • Raises in many headstreams in the Great Dividing Range.
