  • Considered "true bugs"
  • Piercing and sucking mouth parts
  • and incomplete metamorphosis
  • Includes aphids, cicadas, and leafhoppers

ORTHOPTERA

  • Saddle-shaped thorax
  • Long hind legs made for jumping
  • Includes grasshoppers, katydids, crickets

BLATTODEA

  • About 4 species are known as pests
  • 30 out of 4500 total are associated with human habitats
  • Broad, long, flattened bodies and relatively small heads
  • Legs have adapted for running
  • Includes cockroaches and waterbugs

ODONATA
