The state beverage is milk.
Milk became North Carolina's state beverage in 1987.Seventeen other states recognize milk as their state symbol.Milk has been called a nearly perfect food.North Carolina ranks 31st among dairy producing states in the nation.

The Venus fly trap is the state plant.The Venus Flytrap became the North Carolina's state plant in 2005.The Venus Flytrap snaps when a bug (or other object) brushes 2 or more times against bristles that grow on the surface of the leaf.After it gets its prey they reopen in 3 days to 2 weeks.

The Gray Squirrel is the state mammal of North Carolina. The Gray Squirrel became North Carolina's state mammal in 1996.Gray Squirrels are gray mixed with brown,it has a white belly, it has a brown mask looking face, and the eyes are one color,black.

The Plott hound is ten state dog of North Carolina.The Plott hound became the North Carolina's official state dog in 1989.The Plott hound is a legendary hunting dog,known as a courageous fighter and a great tracker wi a spine-tingling bugle like call. It has a smooth dense coat. They are athletic ,muscular, and agile in appearance.It has a smooth dense coat.They are aggressive,bold,and fearless hunters known as "the ninja warriors of dogdom.

The Carolina Lily is the state wildflower.The Carolina lily bacame a state wildflower in 2003.Carolina lilies grow almost everywhere.Their stem grows up to 4 feet high and can have up to 6 flowers.Its petals are a brilliant red-orange with brown spots and curl back to overlap.

The Eastern Box Turtle is the state reptile.It became the state reptile of North Carolina in 1979.Eastern Box Turtles are listed "near threatened by the inter national union for conservation of nature and national resources".The Eastern Box Turtle got their name from the way they hide,they hide by going into their shell and shutting both sides to make a protective box.

The state stone is the Emerald.It became the state rock in 1973.Emeralds
are used for jewelry.They are the birth stone of May.Some Emeralds are bright green and some Emeralds are a dark green.

The state Christmas tree is the Fraser Fir.The Fraser became the state Christmas tree in 2005.The Fraser Fir was used ten times in the in the White House since 1972.Fraser Fir was Named after John Fraser.The Fraser Fir can take up to 12 years to grow Christmas tree height.

The state colors are red,blue,and white.Red means hardiness and velour.Blue means vigilance,persevance,and justice.White means purity and innocence.They are the colors on the flag.
