A Belgian pilot called Eugene Seghers was in world war 2 when he saved the whole of uckfield.With his Spitfire flying over 400 miles per hour Eugene tipped a Doodlebug away from Uckfield. But it was a sensitive bomb so when he tipped it out of the way it exploded and he got killed.
Seventy years ago on 26th July 1944, Eugene Seghers was killed. Uckfield is holding a memorial for Eugene and his heroic action. Because if he hadn't, Uckfield high street would have been hit by the Doodlebug bomb.
