CLEFT LIP/ PALATE

CAUSES

• Use certain meds while pregnant
• Use alcohol while pregnant
• Smoke while pregnant
• Exposure to radiation/ infection
• Family history of cleft lip

SYMPTOMS/ SIGNS

• Split in the lip/ roof of mouth
• Nasal speaking voice
• Trouble swallowing
• Reoccurring ear infection

TREATMENTN

• Cleft lip repair: 1-4 months old
• palate repair: 5-12 months
• Follow up surgeries
