This is how I felt at the end of the school year. Frazzled. I make light of it now, but honestly, I felt I was stretched so thin that I wasn't succeeding at anything--not 100% teacher, not 100% mom, certainly not 100% girlfriend, not 100% friend. It doesn't leave you feeling very happy or satisfied. Verena Zimmer kindly sat me down on the last day of school and said...

Self-Reflection

Not patient, too busy, even mean
None of these traits were helping me to do my main job which is to support teachers in integrating technology. Something had to change.

I started reading 'The Power of Less' in the hopes that I could identify some of the biggest problems preventing me from doing my job successfully. I also knew that I didn't want to be the same person I became last year. No way.

Value my Time

One thing that the book taught me is that if I value my time, then people will start to value my time as well.
If I say yes to everything and keep volunteering 'Oh, I can do that' then I'll never get the things done that I need to--which are most important on my To-Do list.

Book Me!

I've decided to return to things as they were a few years ago where no one has pre-booked sessions. I don't feel like the time was always utlised effectively and it took away time from classes who needed it.
My main work happens in planning sessions--which I attend nearly every week. This school year I will even be at PR-Grade 2 sessions to support iPads. When there is something you need me for, book me. When you want to learn HOW to do something, book me. When you need a few minutes of my time to figure out a problem, book me.
