KING HAMMURIBI AND THE BABYLONIANS

by: josiah jasso, nathan mccann, darrien mitri , and cameron solomon

Once upon a time there were these people. They were called Babylonians and they had a nice ruler named Hammurabi.

He was a very nice man. After he took over the rest of Mesopotamia he made Babylon his capital, or main city.

Hammurabi made life easier for the people. He had a belief system where they had only one god, whose name was Marduk. They praised that god.

He was one of the first kings to build roads and invent a postal service.

Hammurabi also created the Code of Laws which applied to everyone in Mesopotamia, and kept them safe . These rules also allowed women and slaves to own money and land.

Before this, only rich men could do fun things or own land.

If slaves got enough money they could buy their way to freedom since they were owned by people.

The nice king also made sure they had lots of food. He did this by making sure that the watering system was always in good shape. The people never went hungry!

Trade is when you give something to someone so that you can get something in return. He was doing this a lot.

Sadly though, like most good things, this one came to an end. After Hammurabi died his family did not continue to rule over these happy people. They were taken over by some mean people called the Assyrians. Overall, Hammurabi did many good things for the Babylonians and he will be remembered as a nice and fair King.
