PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Waves & Sounds

Hertz
Hertz is the SI Unit of wave frequency, where 1 hertz equals 1 wave passing a fixed point per second.

Medium
Medium is the name for the matter waves can travel through.

Pitch
The way a person perceived the freshen of a sound, weather it's high or low.

Reflection
Bouncing back of waves from a barrier that cannot pass through is called reflection.

Refraction
Refraction is the bending of waves as they enter a new medium at an angle and change speed.

Sound
Sound is the transfer of energy from vibrating objects in longitudinal waves that travel through matter.

Wave Amplitude
The maximum distance the particles of a medium move from there resting position when a wave passes through is called wave amplitude.

Wave Frequency
Wave Frequency is he number of waves that pass fixed potion in amount of time.

Wave Speed
Wave Speed is how far waves travels in a given amount time; calculated as wavelength multiplied by wave frequency.

Wavelength
The distance between two corresponding points of adjacent waves, such as the distance between two adjacent crests of a transverse wave os called wavelength.

Volume
Perceived loudness of a sound, determined by the amplitude of a sound wave.
