chap.1 Quote 1: Page 4

"I pray to the God within me that He will give me the strength to ..."
He doesn't pray for strength , but that with Gods guidence and strenght so you will be led in the right direction in life.

Chap. 1 Quote: 2 page 6

"Jews listen to me. It's all I ask of you. I don't want any money or ..."
The man just wants to be heard someone to pay attention to his and listen to him,He doesnt want simpothy he wants everyone to know whats happening and belive him

chap.1 quote:3 page 11

"Where are we being taken?"
This quote makes me feel how confused the charcter is. How would you feel if you were being taken somewhere and they wouldnt tell you where or even why you were going what if you didnt know if you could see you family ever again or if you qould be with them.

chap.2 quote: 1 page 18

" There are eighty of you in this wagon, If anyone is missing, you'll be.."
Eighty people cramed into one wagon; I can't even imagine how crowded it is, And the fear of if one person decides to leave, everyone will pay for that one persons mistake; Even if it wasn't even your fault. I feel like this is so unfare and their treating them like animals or "dogs" and not like human beings. The people are feeling traped and like they cant do anything about it. They probably feel helpless, scared and alone.

Chap. 3 Quote: 1 page 26

"Strip! Fast! Los! Keep only your belts and shoes in your hands..."
The people are feeling very confused and cold and some humiliated to be striped of what little they have! The have zero confidence, their confused , cold and have no clue why and if their every going to get their clothes back and what the purpose was to strip them of their clothes. I picked this quote because so unfair and cruel and why strip people; innocent people of what little pride they have left and total treat them not only not as an equal but not even as a human being.

chap.3 quote: 2 page 32

"You don't recognize me-----you don't recognize me. I'm a relative of ..."
I chose this quote because it's really quite sad that he's so far gone that he doesn't remember someone who is really close to him and his family that he has known for a long time. The camp has seriously made him crazy and forgetful of his loved ones. It's not fair to him or the close family member and friend.

chap.4 quote: 1 page 37

"You're lucky son; You've landed in a good unit. . . . "
" Lucky: Good Unit"?! I don't think that there was good and bad units; I believe that any units were good; I think that they were all bad! And it wasn't lucky to even be there!!!! I picked this quote because they try to make it sound so much better and how lucky he was to be moved to a new unit but either way no units are good there alll bad.

chap.4 quote: 2 page 40

"You lazy old devil!, Do you call that work?"
He's old and

chap. 4 quote: 3 page 46

" Long live liberty! A curse upon Germany! A curse...! A cur-----"
It's just so sad how The people have to watch these people get hung and stare at their face especially against their will. They have no chose but to watch their friends, family, and even strangers; innocent people being hung against their will and you are the audience. Now that's sad.

"All creation bears witness to the greatness of God"

chap. 5 quote: 2 page 55

"I don't want you to say that. Keep the spoon and knife. You need them..."
It's just so sad that everything this man has ever had or even valued has been taken away from him so now his only inheritance is a dirty spoon and knife that he had gotten from the concentration camp. And if hes giving his inheritance now, he must not think that he is going to live much longer which is sad because he lost hope, and faith in God as well as him self.

chap. 5 quote: 3 page 59

"I trust you absolutely, Doctor."
He went through a lot of pain because he was not asleep and they just did open surgery on his foot. He put a lot of trust in that doctor to take good care of him.

chap. 5 quote: 4 page 62

" So that they'll realize there were men living here and not pigs."
It's just so unfair to them!! Their just trying to cover up their tracks and make it seem like they had good living conditions and they didn't. And it's even more sad because if they would have stayed they would have been freed. I mean why do you think their trying to get you to leave so quickly!!!.

Chap. 6 quote: 1 page 69

"What your violin?"

chap. 7 quote: 1 page 74

"...I'm your father... I've got some bread... for you too..."
It's sad that he has gotten to the point where he would kill his own father who raised him over 1 single piece of bread!!! The father you raised you, fed you, clothed you, and would do anything for you; You killed him/ let him die over a single slice of bread. He must feel pretty guilty right now and quit ashamed of himself to stoop that low to kill his own father over something so little as a piece of bread. You would think were talking about animals here, but were talking about human beings like us! Family, Father and son, it's just unbelievable and just heartbreaking to think that he was that desperate for food!!!

chap. 7 quote: 2 page 75

"Why don't they just shoot us all right away?"
It's sad that they would rather be dead than alive to have peace. That they've lost all hope and they have nothing left! They don't have any hope or peace or strength to keep living. Their despair has gotten bigger and their lack of confidence and ability to move forward and hope of living have gone down. They feel alone and confused as to why they feel the need to torture them and do these cruel things to them.

Chap. 8 quote: 1 page 79

" My fathers ill,"
It's heartbreaking that he has to watch his father get more sick and more weak, and watch him slowly fade away and not being able to do anything to help him. He is watching his father go through pain and sickness. He is watching his father slowly die. It must have been terrifying to watch him struggle; Your own father and his despair. Feeling more relieved than scared of death, but wanting to die just for the pain and suffering to stop. To be at peace ; Finally at peace, that's all he ever wanted to be at peace to not be scared of if you may or may not live another day or be scared or what might happen.

chap. 9 quote: 1 page 83

" The look in his eyes, as they stared into mine, has never left me."
When I saw this quote I thought it meant that he will never forget what had happened to him as well as everyone else. Those horrible memories will always stay with him for the rest of his life. The fear that it had happened and everything that happened when he w as there all flashing through his mind, and it's finally over, it's almost hard to believe that the torture and being mistreated was over. The camp might be over but the memories are constantly there. The disturbing images and things you have seen will never leave. That's terrifying!.
