BATTLE OF FORT SUMTER
Significance- It started the American Civil war
Winner was Confederates (South)
North- "Nooo we lost the fort but we'll be back!"
South- "Victory is ours! We got the horse!! And the fort!!"

BATTLE OF ANTIETAM
Significance- it gave Abraham Lincoln the victory he desired before he passed the Emancipation Proclamation BLOODIEST DAY
Winner: the Union (North)
North- "See? We told you we'd be back!"
South- "Nooo the horse.... And now we've lost!"

BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG
Significance- Lee's 2nd invasion of the North had failed
Winner-The North
North-"it's been three days now, but we won't give up!"
South-"Retreat! We are losing at the task at hand!"

Significance-Made Ulysses s. Grant the general-in-chief of union armies
Winner-The North is victorious
North-"We are the gift that just keeps on winning!"
South-"Sadly, retreating is the only way..."

Significance-important turning point in the war, said all slaves would be "free" in rebellious states.
"So I told Master that the President said I was free. you know what he did? HE YELLED AT ME FOR IT!"

Significance-the confederates finally surrendered their troops to the Union.
Robert E. Lee- Noo. they've got us surrounded, and there's no way out!
Ulysses S. Grant-"We've got them right where we want them! Victory is ours!"

Abraham Lincoln (North) -"I'm a peaceful person, but you crossed the line."
Jefferson Davis (South) - "Winning this war is important. slaves are important. We have to defend our pride!"

North-Ulysses S. Grant- "We will prevail in this battle!"
South-Robert E. Lee- "We will show the Yankees that the South will fight back!"

Thomas "stonewall" Jackson-one of the souths most successful generals during the civil war
Philip Bazaar- won Medal of Honor after the battle of fort fisher
William Carney- received Medal of Honor after the battle of fort Wagner

ASSASSINATION OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN
Significance- the president was murdered by John Wilkes Booth
North Quote- "those gosh darn southerners! Can't they just accept that they lost!"
South quote- "serves you right you arrogant Yankees!"
