  • Similar; to have something on common; Jefferson surrounded himself with people that had similar veiws as him.
  • Customs Duty; a tariff on imported goods from another country; Jefferson decided to get rid of federal taxes and only collect customs duties.

  • Embargo; blocking trades from other countries; The Embargo Act prohibeted trades from all foreign countries.
  • React; responding to an action; American's heard about the Britains attack and reacted with an "anti-british fury".
  • Restriction; ; The U.S. traded with France or Britain depending on who lifted their trading restrictions.

  • Underestimated; to misjudge something; The Americans misjudged how strong the British were and the Native American allies.
