What is a Creation Story?

A: a symbolic narrative of how the world began and how people first came to inhabit it.

Christian creation story

  • Created the world and all living things (Adam and Eve). 
  • Study the Bible.
  • Adam named all of the creatures that god made. 
  • God cursed Adam and Eve for eating the fruit.
  • Adam and Eve were naked after they ate the fruit.

  • God blocked the entrance of garden with fiery sword.
  • Adam and Eve were driven from the beautiful garden 
  • Noone can enter the garden.
  • Some believe earth is given to look after.
  • Others believe humans can use the world how they want

Christians believe that god will create a better world for those who live as God wants, and they will live forever.

Muslim creation story

  • Study the Qur'an.
  • Began with Muhammad.
  • All god needs to say is "be" and it becomes.
  • God created the world and the heavens.
  • God created Adam from soil and he named creatures.

  • Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit and was sent to earth
  • Earth was created to give food, drink, shelter
  • Submit to the will of God=saved, live forever in paradise
  • Believe everything on Earth is given to look after.

BIBLE AND QUR'AN SIMILARITIES

  • Believe God created the world and all living things.
  • Made man from soil and God's breath.
  • Put adam and eve in a beautiful garden.
  • Ate the bad fruit.

Both Christians and Muslims believe that humans are the most important of God's creatures and eventually the people who lives as god wants will be saved.

Imagery, Hyperbole, Simile, and Metaphors can be found in the Bible. The Bible gives a message about salvation and a guide that tells us how we might be given eternal life with God.

Analogy, Metaphor, Hyperbole, and Alliteration can be found in the Qur'an. The purpose of the Qur'an is to provide divine guidance and direction for humanity.
